Corals consume energy for growth and reproduction. Research has shown that their total energy needs cannot be met by photosynthesis alone. When we also consider that we remove almost all organic particles from our systems through protein skimming and mechanical filtration, it is easy to see that the availability of food in our aquarium often becomes a limiting factor. In order to provide our corals with the extra energy they need to thrive, we must offer them food through a variety of sources such as amino acids, zooplankton, and generally DOM (dissolved organic matter). But we know very well that within closed systems, some coral species (mainly SPS) really benefit significantly from a reduced addition of organic additives (better colors) that MUST be selected and of high quality.

Based on our research, ELOS launched in 1997 a "TRIS" of additives to feed our corals. One of these is a source of additional "energy": Elos ProSkimmerELOS ProSkimmer provides complex carbohydrates that are both an immediate source of energy for cellular respiration and an important source of energy for faster biosynthesis of amino acids. Useful in restoring aquatic conditions in and around natural coral reefs, it will help significantly reduce the need for live feed and DOM when used in conjunction with ELOS Omega and ELOS svC, an important step in reducing dissolved organic matter levels as well as nitrogenous wastes in modern SPS-stocked aquariums.

Note: ELOS ProSkimmer is a complex carbohydrate formula. In it we use only pure carbohydrate sources. Similar products available on the market contain various inorganic phosphate salts that are intentionally added to them as preservatives. To avoid the need for these preservatives, we pay great attention to the packaging conditions, which are produced in low-contamination, controlled atmosphere.
